Good to know
- Open to Indian citizens aged 18 to 40 with a bank or post office savings account. Since 1 October 2022, anyone who is or has been an income-tax payer can't join.
- The pension is guaranteed by the Government. After you, your spouse gets the same pension for life, and then ₹1.7 to ₹8.5 lakh (by pension level) goes to your nominee.
- The contribution is taken from your bank account automatically. Pay late and the bank adds ₹1 a month for every ₹100 due. If payments keep stopping, charges come out of your balance, and the account closes when it reaches zero.
- You can raise or lower your pension level once a year until 60.
- You can leave before 60, but then you get back what you put in plus what it actually earned, less charges, not the guaranteed pension.
